To be part is to be whole; to be bent is to be straight; to be hollow is to be filled; to be worn out is to be renewed; to have little is to have more.
是以聖人抱壹為天下式。
So it becomes canonical form that saint pursue only one aspect.
因此,聖人總是執著地追求壹個方面,為天下人思考最普遍的理論準則。
不自見,故明;不自是,故彰;不自伐 ,故有功;不自矜,故長。
Not autosee, so bright, not wiseacre, so all; not boast, so successful; not conceit, so long.
不自以為能看見,所以看得分明。不自以為是,所以是非昭彰。不求自己的榮耀,所以大功告成。不自以為大,所以為天下王。
夫唯不爭,故天下莫能與之爭。
So only not to contend, to be invincible over the world.
只有那不與人相爭的,世界上沒有人能和他相爭。
2. 禍兮,福之所依;福兮,禍之所伏。
Misfortune, that is where happiness depends; Happiness, that is where misfortune underlines.
