那時候的庖丁，把那沾不上半滴牛血，鋒利無比的屠刀收在腰間，扭過頭來對年輕人淺淺壹笑，說：“實不敢當!”
年輕人乘機問庖丁：“不知前輩平生最自豪的事是什麽?”
庖丁不假思索便答：“平生以刃下牛只能安然睡死去，而不感絲毫痛苦而自豪。”
這時年輕人眼神炯炯且充滿敬佩，再問：“那前輩可有最遺憾之事不?”
那庖丁長嘆壹聲：“唉!我苦練了幾十年的刀法，卻尚未學會壹種刀法能讓被解的牛繼續生存!”
