top banana是指大老板、領導人、掌權者。
原來早在100年前美國還沒有電影、電視的時候，有壹種舞臺演出，內容包括流行音樂、舞蹈和笑話（類似相聲？或者說，脫口秀？）。有時人們會在壹個講笑話的演員說完壹個笑話之後給他壹個香蕉。漸漸地人們就把最滑稽的演員稱為top banana。
