Marit與Marion兩人認識於1990年（大約五歲時），由於對音樂的喜愛，兩人成了好朋友，並常在壹起為家人及朋友表演。 他們的第壹張唱片是八歲時以挪威語灌錄的兒童專輯Synger Kjente Barnesanger (Sings Famous Children's Songs)，這張專輯也獲得Spillemanspriest （相當於挪威的葛萊美獎）《最佳兒童專輯》的提名。當時他們的團名是Marit & Marion。
M2M於1998年7月與Atlantic唱片公司簽約，首支單曲Don't Say You Love Me，由M2M壹起譜寫， 並由Celine Dion（席琳狄翁）與Jennifer Paige（珍妮佛佩姬）的專輯制作人***同制作， 並成為“神奇寶貝——口袋餅幹皮卡丘”（Pokemon：the First Movie） 電影主題曲， 並配合電影的上映目前已在全美電臺獲得廣大的回響並持續發燒中，單曲銷售量目前高居第五名，已經超過40,000張紀錄。M2M首張專輯Shades Of Purple已於2000年3月發行， M2M包辦所有的詞曲創作，並請到 Spice Girls（辣妹）、Backstreet Boys（新好男孩）、Britney Spears（小甜甜布蘭妮）…… 等當紅藝人團體的專輯制作人傾力操刀。
