篇壹:The hare and the tortoise龜兔賽跑
The hare was once boasting of his speed before the other animals. "I have never been beaten," he said, "when I run at full speed, no one is faster than me."
兔子向動物們誇耀他的速度,“我從來沒有失敗過,”他說,“當我奔跑時,沒有人比我更快。”
The tortoise said quietly, "I will race with you." "That is a good joke," said the hare. "I could dance around you the whole way."
烏龜平靜地說:“我要與妳比賽。”“真是笑話,我可以邊玩邊和妳賽跑。”兔子說。
The race started. The hare darted almost out of sight at once. He soon stopped and lay down to have a nap.
比賽開始了,壹眨眼工夫,兔子已經跑得不見了蹤影,但是他覺得自己跑得快,對比賽掉以輕心,躺在路邊睡著了。
The tortoise plodded on and on. When the hare awoke from his nap, he saw the tortoise was near the finish line, and that he had lost the race.
烏龜慢騰騰地卻持續不停地走,當兔子壹覺醒來,他看到烏龜已經快到終點線了。兔子輸了比賽。
篇二:The miser and his gold守財奴
Once upon a time there was a miser. He hid his gold under a tree. Every week he used to dig it up.
從前,有個守財奴將他的金塊埋到壹棵樹下,每周他都去把他挖出來看看。
One night a robber stole all the gold. When the miser came again, he found nothing but an empty hole.
壹天晚上,壹個小偷挖走了所有的金塊。 守財奴再來檢視時,發現除了壹個空洞什麽都沒有了。
He was surprised, and then burst into tears. All the neighbors gathered around him. He told them how he used to e and visit his gold.
守財奴便捶胸痛哭。哭聲引來了鄰居,他告訴他們這裏原來有他的金塊。
"Did you ever take any of it out?" asked one of them. "No," he said, "I only came to look at it." "Then e again and look at the hole," said the neighbor, "it will be the same as looking at the gold."
問明了原因後,壹個鄰居問:“妳使用過這些金塊嗎?” “沒用過,” 他說,“我只是時常來看看。”“那麽,以後再來看這個洞,”鄰居說,“就像以前有金塊時壹樣。”
篇三:Hercules and Pallas赫爾克裏斯與雅典娜
When Hercules was walking in the forest, he saw a ball lying on the ground. He kicked it because it blocked his way.
赫爾克裏斯在森林裏漫步時,看到前面地上有壹個球擋住了路,他就壹腳把它踢開了。
To his surprise, the ball did not roll away, but grew much bigger than before. So he kicked it again much harder.
令他驚訝的是,球不但沒有***,反而越來越大,於是他更用力地踢它。
The harder he kicked, the bigger the ball grew. At last it pletely filled up the road.
他越用力地踢,球變得越大,後來球竟將路完全堵住了。
Pallas then appeared. "Stop, Hercules," she said. "Stop kicking. The ball’s name is Strife.Let it alone and it will soon bee *** all again."
這時,雅典娜出現了,她對他說:“不要再踢了,赫爾克裏斯,這個球叫沖突,不去管它,它很快就變小了。”
篇四:The vixen and the lioness雌狐與母獅
One morning when a vixen was taking her babies out of the lair, she saw alioness and her cub.
壹天清早,雌狐貍帶著她的孩子走出巢穴,看見了母獅子和她的孩子。
"Why do you have only one child, dear dame?" asked the vixen. "Look at my healthy and numerous children here, and imagine, if you are able, how a proud mother should feel."
“為什麽妳只有壹個孩子,夫人?”雌狐貍問,“看我這群健康的孩子,如果有能力,壹個驕傲的媽媽應該多養壹些孩子。”
The lioness said calmly, "Yes, just look at that beautiful collection. What are they? Foxes! I've only one, but remember, that one is a lion."
母獅平靜地說:“是呀,看看這漂亮的壹大群,他們都是狐貍!我只有壹個,可他畢竟是壹頭獅子。”
篇五:The sick lion老獅子
A lion had e to the end of his days. He lay helpless under a tree.
壹頭年老體衰的獅子病得有氣無力,奄奄壹息地躺在樹下。
The animals came around him. When they saw that he was going to die, they thought to themselves, "Now is the time to pay him back."
動物們圍在他的周圍,看到獅子快要死了,就來報復他。
So the boar came up and rushed at him with his tusks.
壹頭野豬沖到他身旁,狠狠地咬他。
Then a bull gored him with his horns. The lion still lay helpless before them.
接著,壹頭野牛也用角來頂他,獅子無助地躺在那裏。
So the ass felt quite safe. He turned his tail to the lion and kicked up his heels into his face.
當驢子看到可以對這龐大的野獸為所欲為時,也用他的蹄子用力去踢獅子的頭部。
"This is a double death." growled the lion.
這頭快要斷氣的獅子說:“我已勉強忍受了勇者的施暴,但還得含羞忍受妳這個小醜的侮辱,真是死不瞑目。
